Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool! Built in function and comfort. I just received the Southwire wire stripper tool (Southwire part # S1018SOL), and have used it to strip some solid copper conductors (#12 romex), and found the tool worked well for stripping and cutting the wire. The tool package states the tool will cut & strip #10-18 AWG solid wire, and #12-20 AWG stranded wire, but I have not used to tool for other wire sizes (stranded or solid) yet. But I am confident the tool would work well for the other sizes of stranded and solid wire. Additionally, the curved, plastic covered handles fit comfortably in my hand, and allowed for easy wire stripping and cutting. This is a quality tool!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great, High Quality Tool I have to admit that I was skeptical about this pair of wire strippers having used many other brands in the past, but I am highly impressed. The stainless steel is a welcome change from others I have tried, which will help keep the rust away. The lock is also a welcome feature to keep the profile a little more compact. It cuts insulation well, although I have not yet had occasion to use the screw cutter. My only issue with it is how far apart the handles travel. Even with my large hands, after using it for extended periods, stripping many wires in one sitting, I have a feeling that my hands will be very tired. Overall, though, it seems to be a very solid tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Overall great tool I've had these for about a week and so far they have done me well. They have very nice grips to them and a very sturdy feel. I have had no problems with them and hopefully I never will. The only thing I have a slight negative towards is that they feel a bit tight to squeeze but that can be easily fixed so it isn't a big deal for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Solid Pair of Wire Strippers These strippers are one of the typical basic designs that you tend to see on the market with a few improvements. This pair of strippers is very well adjusted out of the package. While the action of the pliers is very smooth and free, there is no "slop" or wiggle between the to parts of metal. The handle pads also seem to be glued on well. This is my 2nd pair of this pair of strippers. I paid for the first pair myself and am very happy with them. My first pair is about a year old and is still holding up well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not very impressed I bought the strippers a couple months ago and have not been very happy with them. The rubber handles almost imeaditly started slipping off. They really are hard to use when that happens. I'm also not sure why the put a little plire like grip at the tip because the first time I tried to make a loop on a 14-2 wire they twisted themselves. I've been having a bunch of trouble with southwire hand tools recently. I've had two very expensive pairs of side cutters break off at the tips within a week or two and gone threw at least half a dozen strippers with problems like I stated above. I've tryed to email southwire about it and often no response. I wasn't going to waste my time with any of this but I got the invite to review in a email so here it is. The level of quality that I had grown accustomed to from southwire has in my opinion fallen to a all time low.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy clean cutting wire striper. This wire stripper has very sharp and precise cutting jaws. I cuts the wire cleanly using a 'shearing' action then cuts the insulation without nicking the conductor, then (my favorite tool feature) using the end jaws pulls the insulation free from the conductor. It also has two threaded small machine screw cutter/trimmer. Wire and screw sizes appear to be laser etched and should remain permanently. Handel is 'ergonomically' shaped and comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from comfortable to hold I have been using these strippers for the past week on a big lighting job so they have been getting a good work out, there very comfortable to hold and i can lock and unlock them very easily with my thumb. i like the large cutting area which allows me to cut up to three #12's thhn at the same time, strippers work well too. i did have to trim a few 8-32 screws and they cut very clean. i will add these are well made!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like it was designed to do! Is just like the one that I was using but it is just a little bit longer then my old set. At first I thought it was a little to large for my hand but after holding my old set the open the same amount, so with use it will feel like my old set! One problem I have with my old set is that one of the handles slides down. Have only used this tool a couple of days so we will see how the grips hold up over time.
